Our History
We began our first concert season in 1946-1947 as Southwest Kansas Community Concert Association. It began through the efforts of Basil Roark, the main choral and band instructor at the Junior College, the High School, the Junior High School as well as the band instructor at the Grade Schools.
For over 60 years, wonderful entertainment has been brought to Southwest Kansas including: Simon Estes, The Von Trapp Family, Virgil Fox, Peter Nero, Arthur Fiedler and the Buffalo Philharmonic, Ballet Russe, Victor Borge, Ferrante and Teichere, Floyd Cramer, Roger Williams and the St. Petersburg Classic Ballet only to name a few! Over the last 60 plus years, the association has presented over 260 concerts in Garden city.
There have been a few changes over the years. Southwest Kansas Community Concert Association is now called Southwest Kansas Live on Stage. Live on Stage is dedicated to bringing the best 1st class artists to Garden City for your entertainment.
